My husband gave me the most beautiful compliment recently.
He reminded me that it was our off day.
A big smile spread across my face.
A few years ago, I decided to take every second Friday off. I was burned out, and something had to change. For someone who has never been afraid to work hard or go the extra mile, choosing to take that time off, especially during financially challenging times, felt huge.
A year later, I made a new commitment: every Friday off.
And now… It’s rubbed off on him.
We work together, and he’s witnessed the whole journey, from startup entrepreneur sitting in front of my laptop for hours on end, to present day, where I’m no longer ashamed to say: I don’t work Fridays.
It’s actually been much easier to start this boundary with past clients. In many ways, we were already aligned in our approach to work and the values we shared. It might have been harder if I hadn’t spent the last few years unlearning my tendency to self-sacrifice.
We recently signed two new online clients, and from the start, I said it… (with so much more confidence and courage:)
I don’t work Fridays.
No long explanation. No justification. It’s simply one of those things.
In the past, lack was the driving force behind my hustle. And with that came a lot of guilt whenever I took time off.
Does it still sometimes feel a little uncomfortable?
Oh yes.
(Hello, undefined root centre. Lol.)
But learning about Human Design has helped me see when past conditioning, stories & beliefs start creeping in. Now I can notice it, acknowledge it… and gently reframe before it spirals into something big and irrational.
And honestly?
Being reminded by my husband that it’s our off day might just be the sweetest proof that the healing we do ripples out into the world — without force, just by living life on our own terms.
🌙 A few years ago, I felt a quiet but clear pull to offer my work on a donation basis.
To trust that what’s meant to be received will be… and what’s meant to be given will flow back in its own way.
That’s something I still feel deeply committed to.
If this piece supported you, held you, or gave you a moment to breathe… and you feel called to give back, you can buy me a coffee here.
